Throughout rabbinic literature those who went on sea voyages were said to go and come from the “medinas hayam”, literally “the state of the sea”, or in common terms, “abroad” or “overseas”. This blog will be documenting my own experience in the medinas hayam, my own sea voyage: three weeks on a sailboat in the Virgin Islands.
I’m not alone: five friends are with me, and from time to time they may choose to contribute their own posts to this blog. Come read, comment, and live vicariously through us as we have the time of our lives.
(There will be pictures! A new post soon.)
